Registration Information

The 2008/2009 school year begins:Thursday, September 4, 2008

If your student is an incoming from:
Birney 6th to Adams 7th
Lincoln 6th to Adams 7th
Madison 5th to Adams 6th
Washington 5th to Adams 6th
Tulita SDC 6th to Adams SDC 7th
Your student is automatically rolled over into the Adams computer system for the next school year.

You will be receiving a pre-registration packet (large manila envelope) approximately the 3rd week of August. We ask that you read the information carefully and have all documentation filled out, signed and ready to be processed on your students pre-registration day (noted in the packet).

If you cannot attend with your student, he/she may attend without an adult. Please make sure that your student brings the appropriate signed paperwork and required money for that day.

*Please note that the El Nido Park area, Kingsdale St. "on the park side" residents DO NOT belong to the Redondo Beach Unified School District. Your school district is Torrance Unified (310)972-6500.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR REGISTRATION
(New Incoming Students)

• Proof of residency:
  
  Must bring two of the following. Current gas, water, electric bill, or escrow papers (good for 30 days only). No other proof will be accepted. Documentation must have parent's name and current address.
• Immunization Records.
• Most current STAR scores.
• If 7th grader Hep-B & 2nd MMR shot (must be up to date).
• Office personnel will take a copy of parent’s ID or Driver License (Driver License must be presented within 30 days with new address.)
• Copy of last report card.
• Birth Certificate
• Is the student on a retention program? Copy of discipline file even if no discipline has ever occurred. Note from former school is required.
• Is the student SDC, ILS or RSP?
  1. For SDC and ILS students, parent will need to get clearance from Frank DeSena, Special Education Office (310) 798-8683 before registering at Adams.
  2. Copy of the most current IEP.
• Does he/she speak a second language? You will be requested to have your student’s former math teacher fill out a "Math Articulation" card (given to you by us) if at all possible. This will help in the math placement of your student.

Requirements for out of state/country students:

• Passport ID for student.
• Copy of parent’s ID or Driver License.
• Current TB Test if out of state or country. New students who are attending a California school for the first time need to either: (1) Have the varicella vaccine (chicken pox), or (2) Have written proof from a physician of having had the disease. In addition to their immunization being up to date, students new to California schools must have had a PPD skin test with results.
• Plus all items for new incoming students.

Out of District:
Student will be put on a waiting list. Will need a releasing District permit:

Will be notified approximately 2 weeks after school starts.
Your student will need to be enrolled in a school in your own school district until you are notified.
If accepted (all items under New Incoming Student) plus:

1. Parent/Guardian and student will be interviewed.
2. Any letters of recommendation.
