Beginning Band Beginning Band is for people who are interested in learning how to play an instrument. No experience is necessary. We offer only "Band" instruments.Sorry, we do not teach guitar or piano, and do not currently offer a string program. Students can learn to play flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, electric bass and (with special permission) drums.
Students are required to purchase a beginning band method book, and rent or buy an instrument. The book we are currently using is called The Yamaha Advantage (book 1). Books and instruments can be found at any of our local music stores. We also have a fair amount of instruments for "rent" at Adams.
By December, we will be good enough to play in a concert, and by June we'll be almost as good as Intermediate Band. This class is really fun, but it does take a lot of hard work to become good at performing as a group. We participate in the Adams M.S. Winter and Spring Concerts.
