Services Provided
Welcome to Adams Middle School! As School Counselors at Adams Middle School it is our priority to provide support services to students, families, and staff to ensure a successful school year for all. As School Counselors it is our job to address the academic and social/emotional needs of Adams Middle School students to reinforce successful academic achievement.

Academic Advisement
Adams Middle School has been fortunate to receive additional support services funds through a new piece of legislation known as Assembly Bill 1802 (AB 1802). The intent of this supplemental school counseling program is to reduce the counselor/student ratio therefore allowing for additional counseling services to students in grades 7 to 12. Under AB 1802, students will be given the opportunity to attain more individualized academic advisement to discuss issues such as current academic progress, high school preparation, as well as educational options available to the student such as college and/or career/vocational training. To learn more about AB 1802, you are encouraged to go to the following links below and do a search of “AB 1802” for current legislative information.

Individual and Group Counseling
Counseling is available on a limited basis at school. Individual appointments may be made with the counselor to evaluate specific student needs. School-based counseling groups are available on an intermittent basis according to identified needs and available resources.
Parents may refer their child for a counseling appointment by directly contacting the Counseling Department.

Students may request a counseling appointment by completing a green "Counseling Request" form in the school office. Forms are available at the front office counter. Once completed the "Counseling Request" form should be placed in the locked mailbox slot at the front office counter. Students will be contacted with an appointment time.

Parent/Guardian Consultation
Parents can consult a school counselor to address their concerns. Appointments are encouraged; email and telephone consultations are welcome.

Crisis Intervention
Loss and trauma, whether expected or not, can easily disrupt school performance. Adams is sensitive to this issue and has intervention plans and resources in place. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you are in need.

Community Liaison/Outside Resources
Occasionally student's needs go beyond the resources of the school. The Counseling Department maintains ongoing relationships with other school district departments and local community agencies that provide a vast array of support services.
