Welcome back! I wanted to remind everyone of our valet drop-off and pick-up program. First, the entrance/exit driveway is a Fire
Lane; this means that NO PARKING IS ALLOWED along the red curb. Second, the city of Redondo Beach has placed signs on
Knob Hill Avenue that prohibits left turns being made into the driveway from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM and NO LEFT TURN out
of the school driveway from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The Redondo Beach Police Department will be here to help us facilitate this
change as we move to a valet service for all of our families who drive to school. We are instituting this service to make drop-off and
pick-up a safer and smoother process for all. Furthermore, the Redondo Beach Fire Department has given us permission to use the
Fire Lane for this service.
Here is how the valet system will work. There will be a volunteer staff waiting to escort your student from your car to the school.
Simply pull into the school driveway as far as possible and join the line of cars. When you reach the beginning of the line, a volunteer
will open your passenger door and help your child gather up his/her stuff and exit the car. After your child is safely off to school, you
may proceed forward and hustle off to work. The whole process should take approximately I minute. Other schools in the South Bay
use the valet service and have found it to be an effective and safe program. In order to help the program run smoothly, we ask that
you do the following:
- DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEIDCLE UNATTENDED.
- PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD GET OUT OF THE CAR IN DRIVEWAY ALONG THE PLANTER BOX.
- Wait patiently in the line of cars; there will only be one lane; do not pull up in front of or around other waiting vehicles.
- Make sure your child has all of his/her things ready to go in order to get out of the car quickly and safely curbside.
- Be courteous to the volunteers assisting you.
- If your child is not available for pick-up at dismissal time, you may be asked to exit the driveway and return.
We 'are still in need of parent volunteers to make this a smooth transition. There will be a sign-up sheet in the front office. Parent
volunteers need to be available from 7:40 AM to 8:20 AM and we will supply the lovely orange vest. © Please remember, school
start time is at 8:15 AM.
In addition to the valet service in front of the school, the city of Redondo Beach is placing a passenger loading/unloading zone on Julia
Street for kindergarten students. The east side curb of Julia Street closest to Knob Hill Avenue will be painted white, with a 3
minute time limit for the loading/unloading of students between 7:30 AM and 12:00 PM. Parents must park, walk their child to
class, and then return to their vehicle within the time limit given by the city. In addition, kindergarten parents please do not use the
CDC as an entrance and exit access point. Please use the gate entrance adjacent to Room #4. The Redondo Beach Police
Department will be here as well to help us facilitate this change. If you need to be longer, please park your vehicle at the park.
Valet is just one option; you can always park your vehicle off-campus and/or walk your child to school. Please remember that the
south side ofK.nob Hill Avenue is permit parking only.
