My name is Tracy Groisman. I am the Resource Specialist and Learning Center teacher at Birney School. We are working on decoding with first through third grade resource students and reading comprehension with fourth and fifth grade resource students (check out this great site with brain teasers!). The Learning Center students are working on Fast ForWord which is a computerized language development program.
My teaching career started when I was in elementary school. I had decided that I wanted to be a teacher and put my younger brother through days upon days of playing school. I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. I went to college for my undergraduate degree in elementary education at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee and Miami University in Ohio. I got my master's degree in special education from California State University Dominguez Hills.
I taught in San Bernardino for two years and then moved to wonderful Redondo Beach. I have taught first, second, third grade, and resource in Redondo Beach for the past twelve years. I love working with all of the terrific students at Birney. They make my job so much fun!
I got married in January 2005 to my husband, Daniel! We live with our cat, Abraham, in West Los Angeles. I love to travel, read, do yoga, and spend time with my friends and family.
