Michelle Bamrick

My name is Michelle Bamrick and I am currently teaching second grade here at Birney. I have had "fabulous" class experiences thus far at Birney and know that this will be another "fabulous" year.

Let me begin by telling you about myself. I grew up right here in the South Bay. I attended Wiseburn schools as a child and then went to Hawthorne High School. I moved away from home when I was 18 years old to go to college at San Diego State University. My college years were some of the best ever ! After I graduated from college, I moved back here to Hermosa Beach where I have resided for the past five years. I will also be finished with my Master's degree in December from Cal State University of Dominguez Hills.

My family lives close and that gives me the opportunity to spend a great deal of time with them (I'm sure throughout he year you will have the chance to meet some of them too)! My mom and dad are very involved in my life and I have two sisters, one is older and one is younger. My sisters are my best friends! I also have a beautiful one-year-old niece named Sienna who I'm sure I will talk about a lot. Being an aunt has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my life. I love living here because the weather is fantastic and because my family and friends are close!

I have taught in the Redondo Beach Unified School District for the past five years. My first three years were at Redondo Union High where I taught English and coached the cheer team. After that, I came to Birney and taught third grade. I always wanted to be a teacher because I had such wonderful teachers growing up (I can remember every single one of them)! I also come from a family of teachers. I have numerous family members that were educators at one point or who are educators now. I love kids and I love what they bring to my life! Each and everyday is filled with excitement, laughter, and a whole lot of love!

Outside of school I have a lot of different things I like to do. I love spending time with my family and friends, I like reading a good book or magazine, exercising, and watching movies. I also love sports. I played soccer my whole life growing up. I hope to learn how to play tennis and golf in the future. I love watching football and basketball on T.V. too! My favorite color is green, my favorite drink is a Slurpee, and my favorite food is Mexican. I also really love music! I like all types of music but especially country and rock!

You are going to have a wonderful year filled with exciting things! I guarantee that you will learn a lot and have a lot of fun doing it! I cannot wait to work with you and help you learn new things! If you try your hardest, respect others, and keep a positive attitude, this year will be GREAT!
