School is a place where students come to get an education. We insist on a safe and orderly environment because we want the best for your child. Honest and open communication is the best way we know to achieve this goal. Students, parents, and the school must share responsibility for creating the best possible school settings.
Our school provide quality staff and programs to help children succeed in a complex world. Parents must help their children learn to take responsibility for their actions. Students are expected to respect themselves, the school, the staff members, and their classmates. Birney Elementary School has set the guidelines in this handbook to insure a safe and positive environment for learning and growing. - The student's dignity and self-esteem will be a prime consideration.
- An equal balance of empathy and natural/logical consequences replace punishment whenever possible.
- The student learns from his/her problems.
