Dear Jefferson Community,
I have some exciting, yet bitter sweet news to share with you. I have accepted a new position in RBUSD as Principal of Alternative Education effective July 1, 2009. In this position, I will be responsible for supervision of Redondo Shores High School, the district’s independent study program, and the Redondo Beach Learning Academy located on the South Bay Adult School Campus.
My four years at Jefferson have provided me with story after story of caring, involved, and supportive parents, teachers, and students. The bonds that hold the Jefferson community together are strong and run deep and will far outlast me. I have worked with you to continue to strengthen them and help more of our students thrive and grow during their time at Jefferson. I feel immense satisfaction in how amazing our kids have been amazing year after year. Jefferson is truly one of the greatest schools in California by any measure. I know that Jefferson will continue to be “the place” to send children far into the future.
I look forward to taking the lessons and insights I have gained here at Jefferson and applying them to my new students. I will be working with high school aged students, many of whom have unique and often challenging needs that require an “alternative” approach. Additionally, in these difficult economic times, I will be looking for ways to increase enrollment in each program, through the use of new technologies, community and business partnerships and high quality curriculum.
I also want to assure you that I will be “on duty” during the transition and selection process for my replacement. I have met with Dr. Keller, our Superintendent and he too is committed to providing the Jefferson Community with the best possible leadership in the future, leadership that shares our vision of “Reaching for Greatness.”
While, I am excited about my new opportunities to serve RBUSD, I will truly miss everyone, especially the Jefferson students. I have enjoyed serving you as Principal of Jefferson.
