After School Programs

Families of Madison students who seek after-school enrichment may wish to enroll their child in one of the following programs available on the Madison campus.

Mr. B's LEGO Class Comes to Madison!

Sign up now for a new 8-week LEGO class, run by Mr. B's Bricks of Redondo Beach!  The 2008 Spring Session consists of 8 one-hour classes, to be held every Wednesday from 1:30-2:30 p.m., starting on April 16 and running through till June 4th.

Students learn how to build simple machines through hands-on experience using LEGO.  Each student will receive a tailored course designed just for that child.  The projects given to each child are more complex as the child grows in ability and grade level.

The class costs $100 (or $125 if you sign up after April 11).  Please complete the enrollment form sent home in your child's Thursday packet and either mail it or hand-deliver it, along with your payment, to:

Berlitz After-School Language Program Comes to Madison!

The Madison Elementary After-School Program has the opportunity to provide Spanish language instruction for students. Native-fluent Instructors from Berlitz, the leader in language instruction, will be conducting each session. An enrollment form was sent home in your child's Thursday packet for you to complete if you wish to register your child(ren).

The course lasts ten weeks and will take place on Tuesdays from 2:45 - 4:15 p.m. beginning Tuesday April 15th. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please return your enrollment form, along with a check for $262 (all inclusive) made payable to "Berlitz Language Center", to the school office by Friday April 4th.

Madison Chess Club

Do you play chess?  Would you like to learn?  Would you like to help someone else to learn?  If you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, you should attend the next meeting of the Madison Chess Club!

Day/Time: Mondays, from 2:45 - 3:45 p.m. *
Place: Madison School Cafeteria

* NOTE: Meetings will be held on Tuesday at the same time if Monday is a school holiday.

Madison Science Club

We've had terrific interest in Science Club for the Fall session!  The club will meet on Wednesdays from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. in Room 3, unless otherwise stated.  Due to demand, students will be grouped by grade and will meet on the following dates:

• Grade 4:  Oct 3, 10, 24
• Grade K:  Nov 7, 14 (**from 12:00-1:00 p.m.**)
• Grade 3:  Nov 7, 14, 28
• Grade 5:  Dec 5, 12, 19
• Grade 2: Jan 9, 16, 23
• Grade 1 (Rooms 11 & 12): Jan 30, Feb 6
• Grade 1 (Rooms 15 & 2): Feb 13, 20

Sorry, but we are no longer taking sign-ups for the Fall session.  Please look out for the sign-up form in your child's Thursday packet in the New Year for the Winter session.
