My name is Karen Aguilar.  I am a wife, mother of two, and teacher. I decided to become a teacher so that I could inspire children to develop a love of learning. Some of my favorite memories are from my childhood in Pennsylvania. As the youngest child in a typical Italian family, everything from playing accordian with my sister (Dad's choice, not ours!) to Saturday night roller skating with the whole family was an adventure. Recently, I have been able to take time for one of my favorite hobbies - travel!

I was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but my family moved to Arizona when I was seven years old. We relocated to Redondo Beach when my husband was transfered to California several years ago. The beach lifestyle suits me well - I love walking along the ocean and bragging to everyone in Arizona when it's 120 degrees there and 70 degrees here! I received my Bachelor's degree in elementary education from Arizona State University and then completed a Master's degree from Northern Arizona University, as well as a reading specialist credential. Some of my other interests include dance, holistic food, exercise and reading.

1. Follow directions the first time.
2. Raise your hand and wait to be called on.
3. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
4. Be polite and helpful.
5. Obey all Madison school rules.
