School Dress Code
The school dress code was developed
with parent input. The dress code is consistent with the district
policy requiring that student dress be appropriate and not interrupt
the instructional program or impede the staff's efforts to provide
a safe school for all students. The dress code also considers
student safety. These guidelines apply to attendance at school
and all school activities and events.
- Students shall give proper attention
to personal cleanliness and neatness of dress.
- Dress, grooming or accessories
that are considered unsafe, dangerous, a health hazard or disruptive
to the learning environment shall not be allowed
- Shoes are to be worn at all times
(e.g. slippers, thongs, and open-toed sandals are not allowed).
- Dress, accessories, and jewelry
which contain obscene symbols, signs or slogans and /or which
slur or degrade on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, sex,
disability. or sexual orientation, or depict violence that might
disrupt the orderly operation of the school shall not be worn.
- Dress, grooming or accessories
that contain language or symbols supporting sex, drugs, alcohol,
tobacco, or gang association shall not be allowed
- Clothes shall be sufficient to
conceal undergarments al all times. See-through or fishnets fabrics,
halter tops, off the shoulder or low-cut tops, bare midriff,
short skirts and shorts shall not be worn.
- Swim wear or sheer clothing without
proper undergarments are prohibited.
- Hair shall be neat, well groomed,
and not disruptive to the educational process.
- The wearing of hats is permitted
only if there is a written verification of a health-related need
on file with our school office or if it is a "Washington
Explorer hat". With verification, hats will be permitted
on the playground only. If a hat must be worn, the hat must comply
with the school dress code.
- If a child comes to school dressed
inappropriately according to the standards set forth in the Dress
Code, normal disciple procedures will apply.
